The Time Travellers Tragedy

TommyDingo

I can travel through time
But I can only go forwards
I can't go back
No time to erase the mistakes
Of yesterday.

Living in the here and now
The years fly by
Nobody that I can go back and save
The time travellers tragedy
Everyone I know has died.

Another decade and a century
Has quickly passed
I feel like an immortal
Even though I know I'm gonna die
An just like that another year has gone by.

Milleniums come and then they go
But I still don't feel old
I don't why I'm still holding on
When the future is a place I don't belong
And just like that another year has gone by
As I go on travelling through time.

So well put in sci-fi lingo. We are all time travelers that can only go forward and it seems that time just flies by. Very nicely done

At 76 years almost all of my contemporaries have been swept away hard living and cancer. I foolishly find myself wondering "why am I still here?" I would never take steps to hasten my demise but wouldn't mind if it quit stalling. Nice work.

Thank you so much Dan I am so sorry about your lost ones it's easily the worst part of life I think is that we can't keep all the people in life we get to know and love. I hope you live many more years.

          All the best
          TD

But what is the point? Someone here writes something which interests, so I go back to find out what else: And - "The author of the poem doesn't allow comments". I like to engage. Interaction with others can sometimes make my experience of other humans worthwhile (please note: I only said - 'sometimes')😜
