We do not seek attention because we are weak. We seek it because deep within us lives the quiet longing to know that our lives matter. To be seen, to be felt, to be acknowledged—this is not vanity, it is humanity.
Invisibility is one of the oldest and deepest fears. It sits in the silence of our hearts, whispering that we might go unnoticed, unheard, unloved. Yet healing begins in the moment we dare to look at ourselves with honesty and compassion.
When we see ourselves, truly see ourselves, we light a flame against the darkness. And from that flame, connection grows—not from need, but from truth. Recognition begins within, and only then does the world finally learn to see us too.

- Comment from author about the poem: This piece was born from a personal reflection on what it means to be seen as human. I’ve often felt that our emotions, our longings, are not isolated—they echo in others. Writing these words, I realized how invisibility is not just a personal wound but a shared fear we all carry in silence. My inspiration came from understanding that to heal, we must first recognize ourselves as worthy, and in that recognition, we find the courage to truly connect.

Words that feel so true and with that truth the control needed to attain that, that is wanted. A lovely write.
Thank you deeply, Soren. Truth has a way of grounding us, and when it’s shared through words, it becomes not just mine but ours. I’m grateful it resonated with you.
You are most welcome
