Painting the Perfect Picture
I paint a picture—
a perfect illustration.
I erase the errors,
because I dislike them.
I place something there,
just the first thought that came to mind.
But when it turns into a mistake,
I erase it—
that’s what pencils are for.
With pens, there’s no erasing.
Each mark is permanent.
So paint the perfect picture.
Write the best story you can.
Or tell the saddest,
most horrifying story ever told.

A poetic description of the process itself. Nicely done
Thank you SorenBarrett
You are most welcome
Nice ! I am a big fan of drawing with pen - I have learnt to trust myself in doing so. What were your thoughts whilst writing this? :)))
Thank you. That’s nice.
Honestly, mistakes in real life are made and cannot be erased. Procrastination makes you feel like you never get enough done in a particular time, yet when you look back, you realize you completed plenty, even though it feels like too much time has passed. Pencils and erasers represent the things in life that can be fixed, while pens represent what cannot be changed. “Painting the Perfect Picture” symbolizes the perfect life, not an actual photograph. That’s what I was thinking.
Beautifully expressed
Thank you
My friend, this is beautifully done…the pencil and pen imagery grounds the whole reflection. It’s personal and universal at once, that pull between erasing and owning our marks. Quietly powerful. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Thank you
