This is the end.
An abrupt full stop you marked,
after a line
in a maze of scribble.
Was there any hesitation?
Any regrets?
No hesitation,
but regret did linger—
wish you had some friends.
The parade of civility
choked your true words.
Those "Good Morning"s,
"Have a Good One"s—
never radiated warmth.
Sometimes you wonder—
was there any real connection?
Your stubborn mind turned away;
you would not look at.
How you wished...
How you wish still,
you had someone
you would miss
when you walked out the door.
It surprised you:
everyone wants to be remembered.
You only wished,
you might remember someone.
As you walk out of the door,
stand at the elevator lobby—
only one thought whirls through
your blank mind—
what dreams were you chasing here.
Tonight, like all other nights,
a TV dinner with a chilled beer.
A chapter closed,
yet, the book didn’t get tossed.

Psychological, this piece wanders like a vacant brain looking for grounding in some existential founding. Nicely done
ππ a vaccant brain- I couldn't have put it better. Loved your comment. Thanks for the read. Your support is priceless. Thank you π
Always my poeasure
This is haunting, my friendβ¦from the false warmth of routine greetings to the emptiness of walking out the door. The regret, the longing, the unanswered questions...they all hold heavy. πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬ Very, very powerful!
How many goodbyes will there be, before the illusion of connection becomes the real thing. As you conclude, the search does not end. Good write!
Please accept my thanks for your read and support π.
Real connection is a rare thing, I feel . Most struggle on, make do, try to delude themselves into being happy with what they've got...
The attendant mood so very well portrayed.
I feel exactly like you do. I feel so glad that you stopped by and shared your thoughts. Thank you very much π
