A hammer a day keeps the assholes away,
or so the wisecracks of the misfits say.
Swing it with care, not too light, not too hard,
a metaphor forged in the backyard.
For life’s full of clowns with their jabs and their sneers,
their chatter, their nonsense, their endless frontiers.
A tap on the shoulder, a knock on the head,
sometimes it’s just what’s needed, it’s said.
Not literal violence—oh no, not at all—
but symbols of courage, to stand when they call.
To strike through the noise, the hubbub, the fray,
a hammer a day keeps the assholes away.
So keep it close by, in spirit, not steel,
a reminder to guard what you know is real.
And laugh at the chaos that’s scattered and gray,
for humor and hammer can brighten your day.
