There's three of us
Warm
Sometimes sullen
Against my back
Smooth and orange
Rows upon rows
Fork in the road
There's three of us
We are all together
I stand taller
I notice myself want something
There's three of us
Sometimes two
One of us embraces the other
The other calls me a pronoun I enjoy
One I use
One I am
I feel a sense of embarrassment
There is two of us and we look
each other in the eyes
I look out the window
I look at the other one
I change the subject
But I enjoy it
There's three of us
And we are all men
If there is a problem someone
Would say so
There is no problem
I tell myself
We are all friends
I take a deep breath
Because it feels so embarrassing
When you have been told no
For so long
I lie in bed and write something
It's simple and easy and I shake my head
At the unsophisticated nature of the thing
I peer out my bed curtain and see
There's three of us
And it's alright

Three is a magic number, the number of the trinity, the triangle of stability, a good write
