Love is not a promise,
nor a shield against the unknown.
It is the courage to open—
to offer without claiming,
to give without fear,
to remain whole
when whispers of loss surround you.
In that trembling space
between hope and doubt,
love awakens its truth:
not in what it takes,
not in what it guards,
but in the depth it stirs within—
the resonance of our essence,
the pulse of a heart unbound.
Connection begins
when we stand fully seen,
fully present, fully human.

- Comment from author about the poem: This poem was born from the quiet moments when I faced the paradox of love: its beauty intertwined with risk, its depth hidden behind vulnerability. I wrote it while reflecting on how often we seek certainty, protection, or guarantees in our connections, only to discover that true love asks for presence, courage, and authenticity. It emerged from my own experience of giving and receiving, of daring to open fully, and of witnessing the profound awakening that comes when we stand fully human—seen, felt, and whole. This is my invitation to honor that vulnerability, to embrace love not as a promise, but as a path to discovering the resonance of our own essence.

Deep thoughts are evident in this reflection on love. Here is the definition that I too would give that word so often confused with passion. A lovely write and most well thought out and worded. Nicely done
Thank you deeply for your thoughtful words. The essence of this poem aligned with your own definition of love. I also believe love is often misunderstood, and I’m grateful you felt the reflection beyond passion—into presence, courage, and essence.
