Verse 1:
As I’m looking the sky falls again,
And I have lost another friend.
I feel the thorns in my spine;
I think I need a glass of wine.
I know that I have never been
Anywhere beyond the outer limbs,
I feel like I am going blind,
Your emotions are so hard to find.
Chorus:
Shadows walk again
To the end;
Shrugging time,
I’ve lost my mind.
Verse 2:
As I know the door opens for me,
An empty hole is all that I see.
You stare as if there’s something wrong,
You cry every time I sing this song.
Darkened textures—weaved black lace—
Bloody outlets move with shocking grace.
Clouds swirl as I lose another face,
All of this has kept me in a daze.
Chorus (2x):
Shadows walk again
To the end;
Shrugging time,
I’ve lost my mind.

I remain amazed by your diversity in writing, poetry and songs. This song plays out with a sense of darkness. Well done my friend.
Thank you, Soren. I really appreciate your encouraging and supportive words. I have always written poetry, which often led me into songwriting as well. Back in 1998 I was also in a short-lived Goth band and was writing new songs almost daily back then. This was one of those songs that was written but never saw the light. So glad it delivered, my friend. πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬
You are most welcome Tristan
I agree completely with Soren. Fantastic diversity, mate. Nicely done.
Thank you, so much, Tom. Much appreciated mate! πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬
Song itself has to stay with the words on page - A complete atmospheric package, Tristan.
Thank you, Dave! So glad it delivered as a full package and that this song is finally getting heard! πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬ Much appreciated!
Hang in there, Tristan........ oh come on - you do much more than hang in.....
The poem explores themes of loss, emotional isolation, and the struggle to connect with one's own feelings and those of others. The speaker grapples with the pain of losing friends and the resulting emptiness, as well as the difficulty of navigating their own emotional landscape.
Friendship, you caught the heart of it. Loss layered with isolation, the ache of not being able to reach or be reachedβ¦thatβs exactly where this was written from. πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬ Your time and analysis are always looked forward to, my friend!
As the years go by and friends pass on, you realise your own immortality is waning.
I remember my own father stopping going to funerals, and I'm sure this is why.
Life and death, we're all in it.
For sure, Paul...when friends pass, we canβt help but feel our own mortality thinning. Your story of your father stepping back from funerals resonates deeply. I can certainly understand it. Grateful for your words, my friend, and that this song inspired such reflection. πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬
