The last bite

Sami Mulaj

THE LAST BITE

The homeland, a bitten apple,

Thrown on the street,

Swarmed by flies devouring its core.

Wanderers push it with a foot,

Lift it, piss on it.

Drunken passersby of the pitch-black night

Spit on it.

When it hung on the branch,

Everyone wanted to reach it,

Throwing stones to rob it,

Tearing it apart

With fierce, blackened teeth.

People desire the new and untouched that ages and falls into the unwanted with time. Lovely
