Perpetual Imperfections

Sassy Lou

I sustain imperfections no orbs can perceive
Carven into the hushed nitches of me
Not blemishes that fade
but wounds that hum inside
Reminding me where I have been

Some came from meat hooks
Some from idioms sharper than steal
Some from hands that touched fallacious before I even knew what was right
Childhead stolen -
Credence shattered before it at a chance to grow

And love -
love feels like walking through ember's barefoot
I ponder if I ever will let someone in again
May there be a hand over my heart, my mind, my soul
Without the terror of it all turning into ashes

I built walls
Bastion no sunlight could climb
Little things still sparked the storm -
A cliche, a glance, a shadow of remembrance
And i am right back there
back in the anguish I swore I left behind

These imperfections
They're permanent
Tattoos I never asked for
Inked in pain
Etched in silence

But imperfections are not feeble
Yet, they are proof
They are subsistence
Every line on my body
Every stain in my psyche
Is a story that says -
I'm still here

So I no longer hide them
I wear them
Not as contempt
but as armor
Not as a burden
but as art

Because imperfections don't mean I lost
Imperfections means I withstood
Imperfections mean I Rose when the universe swore I would collapse

They are a scripture
They are poetry
They are insights
Carven in skin & soul
And when past comes hammering
When remembrances try to chain me down

I'll stand tall
Lift my head
And abide in this universe
He's imperfections or not malediction
They are crowns

They are not annals of where I broke -
Yet, they are proof of where I rose
I am not what happened to me...
I am what I chose to become!!!

A poetic assertion of being made up of choice. A strong statement and as an alloy with ones past should stand the pressures of time. Nicely written
