Finding a way forward through a tough time,
Apparently I'm still sane and doing just fine.
No longer use alcohol to help with some rhymes,
Sober way is ahead when the treachery climbs.
Making my own healthier and tastier still drinks,
A cancer causing additives, aspartame stinks.
Some friends try to cling, some turn their backs,
People grow apart unfortunately and that's facts.
Feels like a cognitive dissonance or ignorance,
What's the main cause for all the belligerence?
Trying to be a big boy wearing childish pants,
Life feels a slow stroll, not a fast fuelled dance.
When will others think about bigger questions?
God please continue to teach me these lessons.

Ooh, it's educational on 'ere, ya know, not any ole rubbish. lol. Had to check that aspartame, wot it is. It's got phenylalanine in it, which is in some diluted drinks.
Yup, pretty bad for you haha.
You know that phenyl... stuff?! lol.
In transition from one stage of development to another I get these feelings a type of metamorphosis. Nicely put to poetic verse and rhyme
I hope so, thank you.
You are most welcome
Shawn, this is a strong piece...sober honesty, candid lines, and a prayer woven in. The struggle, the humor, the growth all walk together here. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Thank you, yes life is a lesson.
A marker describing precisely where you are at now?
Interesting to see where you go after that.
So well written.
I would say so yes, thank you.
