drift in static

Matthew R. Callies

waves of silver hum
through the corners of my mind
your voice a half-remembered echo
beneath the hum of streetlights

fingers trace the edge of sound
shadows bloom in violet and gray
time folds over itself
and I am weightless,
suspended in feedback

the sky leaks neon tears
and every heartbeat
is a distant guitar note
bending, fading,
into the fog of everything

I sink into your reverb
the world a soft blur
and somewhere,
the stars are singing
but only I can hear

The use of colors heightens the mood described in this poem. There seems to be a mental drift as well and it carries me to a different dimension. Nicely done.
