Karma

Sassy Lou

Karma is a tale breaker in a placid room

An umbrella that frolics beneath the moon

No footsteps, no echo, but she still is ever – present

Eupneic, her warnings behind your receivers

She ain’t tumultuous, but she is surgical clean

Cutting through juncture you thought you unseen

Like smoke from a fire you tried to omit

She dawdles in silence, collecting your obligations

Every choice after puerility dissipates

Carves out a path that the tomorrow satisfies

No reset key, no do-over

What you plant in the dark, the dawn will wake

You might dress in your best bib & tucker

Smile like peace lives in your chest

But Karma don’t care for the veil you wear –

She reads the heart like open air

She is nit vengeance but mirrored fate

A scale that balances love & hate

And when the weight of your past falls due

She don’t call ahead – she just strolls through

You’ll be sipping glee, tossing victories

Thinking your vigor out ran your sins….

Then she will show up with her collected grace

And the simper will conceal on your perfect face

For every being that you bruised & bent

For every dollar, lies or time squandered –

She multiples pain like seeds in spring

Until it flourishes everything

You won’t even know it’s her at first -

Just rotten luck, a string of worse

But when your child cries, “ Why is love so cruel?”

You’ll hear the reverberation of the pain you’ve seen

You’ll turn blind eye, won’t tell them why

But deep in your psyche, you’ll feel the sigh

It’s the price of peace when it’s brought with war,

It’s the locked-up veracity behind your door

Meanwhile, the ones you left in the lurch

Rebuilt their lives with grit & trust

They found their light, they found their serenity

While your umbrella is on lease, with no release

Funny thing, how Karma whirls

Returns the loss, reclaimed the wins

She don’t forget, she don’t forgive –

She simply gives what you chose to give

Now I will walk with lighter steps

Pay my obligations with live, not regrets

I need no throne, no crown, no fame –

Just good energy in Karma’s epithet
