POEM :
THANK YOU, ALLPOETRY.COM
“Ships that pass in the night and speak each other in passing,
Only a signal shown and a distant voice in the darkness;
So on the ocean of life, we pass and speak one another,
Only a look and a voice, then darkness again and a silence.”
--H. W. Longfellow (1817-1882)

Thank you, Kevin Watt,
For the complimentary Gold Membership
Of one week
For my birthday,
Today.
I have made many friends on this site;
But, I will never get to meet them,
For the world is large,
And our time is limited,
And time plays havoc on our bodies…
We run, we play,
We fight, we reconcile,
We succeed, we fail,
We make new acquaintances :
And leave them…
Pages on sites fall silent,
One by one…
Allpoetry has been kind to me,
I am happy about that.
It has given me a platform
‘Pon which to express myself,
To make myself known to others.
Allpoetry gave me a virtual world
In addition to our physical one.
More than 900 writings have I posted.
Strangely for me,
Some of the writings
Attract a lot of views…
My regret is that my page will fall silent
One day.
But as Longfellow says :
We are but ships passing
On the ocean…
We signal to each other,
And go our different ways…
The lights fade into the distance…
Best wishes to you all,
On Allpoetry.com…
