The Pearl That Stayed Locked

Cirawrites01

So what's captivating
The fact I've opened a new book
And the chapter fazes me
The more I read about it

Am I tangled in the character
Or is this another story
that's going to fail
But, oh no, I don't want it to fail

On the beach full of rocks
There lies a pearl in a clam
It's beauty is unique
But it's been locked

Don't worry, I'll search for the key
Coz this treasure chest is not worthless
Just because it has gold in it
Or because it's empty

What matters is that it exists
And that's my Apricity
The wind blows in its direction
On sea, When I sail,
I hope I intersect and stay.

What I get from this poem is that it is not the treasure but simply knowing that it exists that is important. Well done

Yes that is the core essence I went for

One wonder about pearls is the way they are conceived and stay for a long time. The shell is closed, the beauty inside remains unseen by others. Looking at the shell one would never think it can produce such a marvel. But no treasure is safe from Man : he will find a way to open the shell forcefully and keep the pearl as an exhibit...

"Full many a gem of purest ray serene
      The dark, unfathom’d caves of ocean bear;
Full many a flower is born to blush unseen
And waste its sweetness in the desert air."

Thomas Gray (1716-1771) : “Elegy written in a country churchyard.”
