If Only I Could—

Meera Mere

If only I could read your eyes,
I would want to know
Your secret source of light,
All the little things that made you smile,
And the quiet reasons your eyes lost their shine.

If only I could talk to your pillow,
I would want to know
About the nights that made you cry,
About all the dreams that stole your sleep,
And the whispers that kept you awake.

If only I could read your silence,
I would want to know
About every battle you fought alone,
About every word you swallowed,
And the storms you’ve always carried in your mind.

If only I could touch your heart,
I would want to know
The names it beats for,
All the scars it hides beneath the skin,
And the moments it forgot it was alive.

If only I could…
I swear I would.
I’d hold every fragment of you
Until it felt whole again.
