Something Beautiful I Broke

Anas Merchant

A dance I saw between predator and prey

A chance I took to paint her grey

Smoke of the evening sky, she heard my poor heart’s cry

A glance from her matured eyes, shuts down every treachery and play

Truth became lie, lie became truth, Words became the tune,

pen became the flute , Looking at this blind and mute

The devil started to pray

Something beautiful I broke, wrapped deception in a cloak,

All her demons that I provoke , would lead us more and more astray

I scratch her hair, I kiss her here and there

Devoid of any worry or care , what any living soul would say

She’s drenched in grace and alcohol, back into her arms I would crawl

Now when the rain is about to fall, don’t turn these clouds away

A potent as a scorpion’s bite, In her bloodstreams day and night

Confusing her from wrong or right , this tale will end on judgment day

If life till eternity should stretch or expand,

I’ll demand from her what I wish to demand

Her language and decisions I wish to command

Ignoring what the judge or jury would say

I would call this poem (Having it my way) a strong and powerful write of making one's own choice. Nicely said with rhyme
