High bar low

2781

He sets the bar high, so we have to go low.

He searches each shadow, and watches each show.

Are we seen with pride in his eyes?

Or does he see through every disguise?

Answers to questions that I don't know.

But he sets the bar high, so we must go low.

Down to the gutter where we fall on our knees, and beg for mercy?

Ir do we just breath?

And go head first, into the day - treating others how we will be treated?

(Where's Robin Hood when he's needed?)

But look at me, right off track: take the helm; turn this shit around...

You know I hear it really matters, who we are, hear, on the ground.

He sets the bar high so I go low - into the pit, to put on a show..

And up until the final task

I dare not love my life

The bar is high

So I go low

It keeps me out of strife!

Well written, your poem explores the tension between high expectations and the struggle to meet them. It reflects on the pressures individuals face when trying to live up to societal or personal standards, suggesting that in the pursuit of these high ideals, one may feel compelled to lower themselves or compromise their values.

Good write 2. From part of a hymn: 'He/She that is down need fear no fall; He/She that is down [need fear] no pride'. Though, of course, we have to get up again!

The higher you go, the higher you fall.
Sometimes going low allows you to climb to success.

That seems to be true. If we hit the bottom though at least the only way is up!

When the bar is high it is an easy task if limbo is the game. I have the feel that this has another meaning and one that is far more spiritual though. Yes few of us ever get over the bar.

Can't see there's anything to excuse at all. The expectations of ourselves, (even if not guided by your Higher Authority) compared with the actuality, made for a read which held my attention.

        See, good news!
