My forest is dark
an endless void
cold and damp
shiverous and lonely
my flashlight shines it
but the batteries are dying
my only light is flickering
sometimes it’s humid
sometimes it’s empty
The crab is no longer in his shell, empty
bounded by chains of Hades
though he’s not the villain
sleepless nights haunt my everyday
anyway, I couldn’t speak because my body wouldn’t let it
same with my tears
My heart hasn’t been in daylight in a while
I’m sure I’ve forgotten warmth
Though the forest is cold and damp
The heat drives it up a ramp
The ocean steams
The ground boils
How can I walk when I am chained
An ocean I’m drowning in but can still breathe
I don’t know why I am drawn to problematic people
maybe because in a way, we’re one in the same
When I become mad, pulling the sails to safety the ships
the storm takes the lives of old ships
A beast’s roar has no beauty
I cry help but my wails fall into a void of endlessness
I shell myself to keep from people being burned
but when I open my mouth, they are scorched and no longer with me
I can’t speak of things but I can sing them
Words can’t be formed unless in a poem
I yearn, but don’t chase, for I know you’ll only drive further from me

- Comment from author about the poem: These are poems I wrote to my teacher I trust the most, I had so much to say but my body can't form it unless in a song or in a poem. This is about me

Crab is a major theme in this. A shell as protection, they do breath underwater which serves as a protection and half home to them as well as a place for predators So many allegories here. Well done
Thank you. And I get that. When I first wrote this, sometimes my body goes numb. Like my skeleton moves my body but my soul is distant. That’s why I made a comparison of a shell without the crab. But I really appreciate your comment. Have a good day:)
