UNHOLY FOR ALL RIGHT REASONS....

REBELLIOUS SOUL

Unholy for All the Right Reasons

I was a normal teenage girl,
finding my own world,
until people around me
started seeing me like a showpiece.

I tried to move,
but found my limbs wrapped
in a tape called Society.

I tried to speak,
but my lips were sealed
with a tape called Tradition.

I tried to breathe,
but my ribs were bound
by a tape called Decency.

I tried to live,
but they said,
“Not like that, kid.”

Funny how those people treat us like a series,
rewriting our story without our consent,
turning our laughter into shame.

The monsters who stare,
strip us bare with their eyes.
They preach modesty—
the same ones who make us
like a damn presentation doll:
decorated, deceased,
but never heard.

And yet,
beneath those tapes,
our hearts thump louder
In defiance...unapologetic.

It is not only the message but the metaphor used that gets the fave. Nicely presented with only mild understandable anger it calls out to reevaluate social standards and expectation and the contradictions that abound in them. Nicely done

Thank for understanding the message of the poem. And thanks for the fave.

You certainly know how to tear away societal constrictions in powerful poetic form. Glad to witness your defiance.
