NO MIRACLES

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

Grandfathers ailing
Gods define
A lifes beliefs
In decline
The saviour that
He knelt to pray
Seem tragic
In his final day.

Forcing belief
Upon the young
Was indeed a crime
With chanting sung
He saw no miracles
In his  long life
Just injustice
Pain and strife.

His church that lay
Upon a hill
Speaks of evil
A terrible thing
Old and young
Undeserving souls
Must be governed
And controlled.

Not once in practice
When he asked
Did God deliver
Merely taxed
Every thought
And action sought
No miracles
Just retort.

Whether religion, politics, cultural values all forms of brainwashing and indoctrination are an insidious form of control over others. The poem has a creepy feel to it. Nicely written

This envokes to me the ultimate power of a church and its potential coruption. Nicel done.
