Difficult

Meagan Adelle

I want to make parts of a woman’s life hard and maybe a little difficult

I want to make it difficult for her not to smile

And hard for her not to laugh

I want to make it difficult for her to keep a straight face in a somewhat serious situation

I want to make it hard for her to get out of bed in the morning because she doesn’t want to leave

I want it to be difficult for her to remember why she was afraid of love and hard for her to not give up her heart

I want it to be difficult for her not to lean into me on her bad days

And hard to stay away from the safety I offer

I want it to be difficult for her to keep her hands off of me, and hard for her to resist mine

I want it to be difficult for her to refuse receiving love the right way, and hard for her to imagine a life other than the one we build

I want to make a woman’s life difficult and hard in all the right ways

And I hope she would do the same for me

A clever approach to wording makes this poem fun to read as it has a double negative approach making it a positive. Very nice
