FOR WHAT?

@merci

I knew I could do better,
Push a little harder,
Yet I stayed here—
Where it’s comfortable, familiar, safe.

I stand knowing what to expect:
A call once a week
To check if I’m still breathing,
A meeting once a year,
Not by choice—
Just because you happened to pass by.

And still, this feels okay,
Maybe not what I longed for,
But what I’ve been given.
For why would I risk losing you—
For what?

For a dream that may never breathe?
For novelas that sound too real to be true?
For the idea of what you could be—
Of what I could hold,
Yet have never reached with my fingertips?

Or maybe this is it—
Me, chasing the impossible,
Risking my peace
For a picture painted by my heart.
