LETTER IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

I could not read
The written words
Nor understand
The fluent phrase
But teardrops
Stained the ink
It gave me pause
It made me think.

Faded paper
In echo calls
From departed avenues
Deserted halls
Brick by brick
In rubble now lay
A yesteryear
A forgotten day.

Words of love ?
A sorrowed play
About the page
What did it say ?
Its haunting secret
Lost to I
Its tearstained message
From saddened eye.

This poem has a charming flow that is created by short rhyming lines. The message is consistent that aids the flow as well. Sad but well written
