My Favorite Color

Morgue

See I became blue so you could become pink

I became purple so you could become green

The difference between you and me

I didn’t get upset when I said “why can’t you choose?”

Instead I sat and listened, with a smile in my teeth.

You liked a song so I chose another

You sang along so I became the drummer

The difference between you and me

I grinned and listened with crescent moons in my palms all summer.

See you liked this and I let you speak

I liked this and you said it’s strange

I thought we understood each other on paper perfectly

You just liked having a sense of control in this page

You wanted an escape and when I couldn’t give you one

You decided I’d be the reason you aren’t free

So are those colors even pretty?
