Freedom’s Debt

Joseph M Marion

Freedom’s debt is not a coin to spend,
But lives and love that never truly end.
It’s in the soldier’s march, the mother’s cry,
The silent prayers beneath a somber sky.

It’s in the battles fought on distant shores,
The shattered dreams and broken open doors.
Yet through the pain, a nation stands as one,
A testament to all that’s lost and won.

So honor those who paid the highest cost,
For without them, freedom’s light is lost.
Their sacrifice, a gift we hold so dear,
A legacy that echoes year to year.

"For those who fought for it--freedom has a flavor the protected will never know." So many fought and lost for it. How honorable is it to die for one's country when both sides send young teens to fight each other?

          • Joseph M Marion

Yes that's true a lot of teens do go but nowadays so do the older the ones have been there cost of freedom isn't free.
