The Shackles On My Throat

Meera Mere

How do I untangle
The shackles on my throat?
They pierce through skin—
Bleeding every time
I try to say what’s on my mind.

They tighten each time,
And when I dare to say “I,”
They press harder—
Until I choke,
And swallow the rest.

Quite the image that captures well the sensation of anxiety and fear that comes with speaking out. Nicely imaged and worded

It's too hard to be captured into words actually......
