A Small Win

Daily Life of Al

Ever since I started making food

The stomach had no say

Only the brain could talk

The brain, always hungry to silence

Unfiltered barks of a black dog

The body hypnotized by the mind

The stomach stretched to breaking

1000 → 2000 → 3000 → 4000 calories more

the brain, always winning

In monotonous cycles

Today was different

I opened the fridge

While hearing the whines

Of a creature that resides

Deeply ingrained in my mind

All of a sudden

My stomach spoke

Over the howling of my thoughts

For the first time

My body listened to my stomach

Closed the fridge

Walked away

Food is terrifying for me

But I have control

For my first time

For that, I am proud
