Societal Morality

rebellion_in_sanity

Across the room,
their eyes met—
pure, unveiled hatred.
In that nudity, no shame.

There I stood,
a mere spectator;
pity or loathing—
unsure of my feelings.
Emotional control absent—
unfit for society.

Yet, in the night,
drifting into sleep,
my mind rebelled:
they were honest, unafraid,
in showing what they felt.

When last did I find
the courage to show
what I feel?

And the ghosts crowded,
danced and chanted—
“Hypocritical Evil or honest Devil,
what do you want to be?”

This freestyle poem has a deep message to all. An angel coated rot of hypocrisy vs a devil through and through, now there's a choice for ya. I would rather let the public see my worm eaten flaws than cover them up and let them fester. Nicely written and a fave

I see this in very concrete terms; a meeting I’m compelled to attend monthly. An item with some moral overtones (or perhaps undertones) up for discussion. Two participants with very different politics work at it hard, while the rest of the meeting paint themselves into the wall as wallpaper…..Your piece is extremely real for me but know that your position, as configured there is the majority.

now that is a very loaded question - and a person like me who tries to say it as it is - but in the nicest way, without hurting, this is a real poser
