Divine Inspiration

Spencer Wilhelm

What if I have something?

Something awful, extraordinary, and vague?

Yet clear, concise, and

Simply just true?

What if it's eaten my core,

Replacing me more and more

With IT

The Thing

So Beautiful

So True

What if my hands can't keep giving,

Can't keep writing,

Can't keep singing,

Not out of want,

But out of my own ungood?

My voice keeps breaking,

My pages keep shredding,

My hands stay empty

From tiring daylessly, eternally

For the Good.

Because I heard the Truth,

Beauty, fully painted in the song of life;

Yet bracketed by the ear,

And lacking no depth or motion

From this limiting Light

I bring so near.

For every note is up and down,

Every break another breath

For me to find some rest

In the thumping heavy breast

Of IT.

And what if I have what is so true?

What if you could then have it too?

Oh hearts be hushed so hear me new,

To this I answer just, "I do".
