You reduced our love to a sandwich
You wondered what analogy to use
And you chose a sandwich
Our love represents one that has been half eaten,
so it is thrown away.
I ask will there be a new sandwich? If we made our sandwich again one day?
You said you don't know if you'll be hungry,
or if you'll fancy the same sandwich.
You said with time and space, there could hypothetically be a sandwich but you don't know and you haven't thought about
our sandwich.
You said I shouldn't hope for that sandwich.
I ask would you want different sandwiches?
"I don't know, if a sandwich came along, I'd see how I feel"
There is no hypothetical in this sandwich.
You ask me, would I be open to have other different sandwiches, and I say no.
And you tell me, I probably should be.
But for me, it was never a sandwich I was after.
I didn't get a sandwich because I'm hungry
or because I like sandwiches.
I had that sandwich because we shared it and I loved it.
