I Keep Listening

applecherry

All songs are heartbreakup songs

All songs are about love

Life is about love

what else is there to write about?

Before I'd listen to everything and be free

No feelings of entanglement or worry, about the words they use,

what it means or how they feel

But now I hear every word,

every hint or direct meaning

I hear it,

and I can't unhear it.

I feel cursed.

To have love, is to lose it

And I'm now I'm paying the price of love

And I can't escape.

What once was music to my ears, is now a painful reminder,

a constant reminder

of what was,

and what could have been.

I can of course, turn off the music

Save myself the pain and reminders,

But I dont.

Because I long for those feelings

These painful reminders are all I have of you, so I keep listening

Love and loss lead to pain. All major topics of poetry. A read that feels so real and everyday that it leaps off the page and into the room. Nicely done

I know that feeling of not turning it off…of listening just to feel close again. You’ve written that impulse so honestly, my friend. Well done! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
