the toaster burns the last slice.
a dripping faucet mocks the quiet.
shoelace snaps mid-morning struggle.
a grain of salt blinds the eye.
streetlights blink out at wrong moments.
door hinges screech a rancid tune.
the key sticks on tired, rusted locks.
coffee spills and the shirt darkens.
a pen leaks ink on hopeful papers.
batteries die in clocks that tick.
the dog chews the only good shoes.
mailbox stuffed with distant echoes unpaid.
it's never the earthquake, it's the ants.
the nickel dug deep in a pocket.
a train late, your mind derailed.
brick by brick, a mind crumbles slow.
