Why Can't They Hear Me

Joseph M Marion

Why the Lord Wondered Why the People Can't Hear Him

In the silence of the heavens,

Where stars whisper ancient tales,

The Lord looked down with gentle eyes,

And wondered why His voice so pale.

He spoke in winds that kissed the trees,

In rivers’ songs that danced with light,

Yet hearts below, so deaf and blind,

Could not receive His sacred sight.

He called through thunder, fierce and bold,

Through morning’s calm and evening’s hush,

But in the noise of worldly haste,

His words dissolved, a fleeting brush.

He sent the prophets, wise and true,

With messages of love and grace,

Yet many turned their gaze away,

Ignoring truth’s embracing face.

Was it the clamor of desire,

That drowned the whispers from above?

Or walls of pride and fear within,

That blocked the channels of His love?

The Lord wondered, with a heavy heart,

Why silence reigned where hope should bloom,

Why souls so lost in shadows deep,

Could not hear His voice resume.

Yet still He waits with endless patience,

A beacon in the darkest night,

For those who seek with open ears,

To hear His call, to find the light.
