Boogie

sorenbarrett

A Samba lives in my feet, Tango in my heart
A Waltz follows me down the street, West Coast Swing gives me a start
There is Salsa in my hair, Jive shuffles my shoes
A Cha cha in my staggered stare,  A Bossa Nova sings the blues
Got a Merengue in my butt, Cumbia drinks tequila at night
Flamenco in my strut, Passa Doble for a fight
Ballet wears tight pants, Disco painted in glitter
Milonga for romance, Mambo a great baby sitter
Belly dance is on the pill, Reggaeton a Jamaican treat
Lombada danced in bed while you're Krumping your sweet
Oh there is more behind the door, and some on tap
Fox trot across the floor, so hard to Hip hop to rap

Learnt a lot of these dances in primary school. Those were fun and innocent days. πŸ•ŠοΈπŸ™πŸ•Ί

Thanks Cryptic for the read and comment. Yes you must have saved your parents a lot of money not having to go to Fred Astaire or Arthur Murrey. Skipped the light fandango turned cartwheels on the floor.

What is rap all about, said the plumber doing the tap tap tap.
Great dance through life with some innuendo thrown in for effect.
The first dance I learned as a kid was the military two-step, scared me for life.

            • sorenbarrett

Thanks Paul for the review. That two step was a little too formal for me. Wasn't much into line dancing. Preferred slow romantic style, love not war I say

You have my toes tapping, even without music. In my younger days I danced in recitals and loved every minute. In my older days I danced the night away at high school reunions, and could hardly get out of bed the next morning. You capture the magic of dancing in every style, cultural and generational, and I thank you for the memories you've stirred.

                    • sorenbarrett

Dear Bella you are always so kind. It was Sunday and it needed a little rhythm to get it going. Your words are always most appreciated my friend

Heck yes!!! I concur! I love to dance...it's so damn defiant and liberating. And, I confess, I am watching Dancing with the Stars, but that is neither here nor there. Wonderful poem that still has my feet tapping. What a neat way to include all those dances too! Loved it, Soren! πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ€£πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›

Thank you my friend for the read and kind words of support and encouragement. Not a natural dancer took lessons years ago now I love the dance floor.

You are most welcome! I am a natural dancer, weirdly enough, but would love formal lessons, me thinks! πŸ€”
