Notice of absence from Neville
If I get the thumbs up tomorrow from my Doc, I hope to be in Miami on Friday for three days before jumping ship and spending three weeks sailing around South America .. Sheesh, what we do to try n get a touch of inspiration eh' .. Take care while I'm away & please forgive any delay in my going quiet for a while .. Lest We Should Ever Forget
The low cloud formation
was spectacular
to state the obvious
and to say the very least ..
It seemed like
a well-rehearsed salute
or celebration in
honour of their sacrifice ..
The entire scene
was played out by three
young wounded
Tommies each one carved
from sheet metal
and painted in matt black ..
Not just for
its effect, on a grass verge
at a particularly
dangerous crossroads but
as a genuine
mark of respect and as a
stark warning to
everyone lest we ever forget ..

Neville this poem offers a reverent and solemn picture to an irreverent and violent generation. One where a low cloud formation brings ideas that their online memory is running short. Tommies carved of metal bring to their mind heavy metal music now out of date. This poem sets different with our generation where defending one's nation and values was something honored and valued. Something that seems to be fading away. Great write my friend
I understand .. time ticks on and both culture and most societies claim to have moved forward .. But we know, from what continues to happen around many parts of the world today, that is largely little more than a delusion .. Yet still, the ultimate sacrifices of yesteryear, in my mind at least, should never be forgotten .. Thanks for the thumbs up my much respected friend .. Neville 💜👍
