Behind The Wire

Paul Bell

Behind the wire

Watching

The keeper of life

Burdened by memories

Too terrible for mortal man

Asking only sanctuary

Crumbs to die free

Image of a woman and children

Long gone

Evoking anger

Passion long suppressed

Time running out

Glory be

The wire divides

The whistle echoes

Demons fight for the final time

Silence

Angels collect the remnants of time.

This poem is a bucket of emotion full of leaks draining its contents in falling droplets. A powerful poem that falls freely in emotional associations.

Paul, this one chills me…raw, solemn, and stripped of sentiment. You’ve given silence a body and it speaks loudly. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

Good write Paul. We could each write a 'Silent Poem'. No words in it, and as few or many verses as we wish! Eh? lol.
