Dolphins flesh ruptures
floating belly-up, they wash
ashore beside plastic rosaries.
Thirsty hooves drag
its ribcage like stolen luggage
across savannah stamped in drought.
Ice caps abort its heirs
sealed beaks like subpoenas
curdling in yolk-thin melt.
Migration is a splatter
which sprawl directionless like
carcasses from broken compass.
Sun scorches with the
memory of coal,
vaping forests into souvenir smog.
But
We have built bunkers of denial
with windows for a selfie with hurricane
we have named after a distant cousin.
We have traded seasons for sirens
with hashtags for harvests,
we tend to trend and pretend.
We have built apps to cut carbon scraps
with avatars which meditate,
we stream with serenity and smile.
We have chilled champagne for the collapse.
with clinking glasses for meteorites.
we toast the apocalypse.
