The Great Big Blue

Sash

The world is an ocean

I am sinking

Falling

Deep

Into a darkness

I don't know when it started or

If

It will stop

All I know is I'm

Falling

Falling

Falling

Sinking

Sinking

Sinking

Do you notice?

Can you tell?

Can you see I'm sinking deeper?

Has the light left my eyes?

I hope not.

I hope I get to sink

Deeper

Deeper

Deeper

If I sink deep enough

I won't be able to tell if I'm

Falling

or

Flying

Soon, it will be like floating

I'll end up on the other side

On the other side of the sea

in the sky

Once the shore and the clouds touch

I will be

Flying

Flying

Flying

Floating

Floating

Floating

The sun will kiss my skin

The breeze will toss my hair

The clouds will be soft in my hands

The big blue will be light

It will be clear

And easy

But right now

I'm sinking

Sinking and falling

And the blue is dark

And cold

And thick

It will be heavy

Heavy as I

I sink because I'm heavy

I'm heavy as I sink

Sink

Sink

What is weighing me down?

Is it me?

Am I holding tight to a boulder?

Why won't I let go?

I know.

because even if heavy

I get to be held

I get to hold

I like the weight

It reminds me

Reminds me that I'm here

And I'm sinking

Sinking

Sinking

But if I'm really sinking

If I'm really falling

But nobody can see

Nobody can hear

Nobody can tell

Am I still sinking?

Or am I forgotten?

Would you forget?

Forget my laugh?

Forget my face?

Forget my favorite color?

Favorite flower?

I hope you won't.

I hope I linger

I hope when I float, you see me in the stars

I hope you feel me in the sun

feel me in the clouds

The breeze

I hope I feel light and dry

Not

Heavy

Heavy and damp

Heavy as I

Sink

Sink

Sink
