The Misanthrope

mtrotter1

People will take you for granted

If you let them

And that is the trick of the enemy!

One's anger can knock down

Kingdoms and walls

One's brain can explode in fear

So why do you want to suffer this way?

Every treasure chest is locked

Because of the way you feel

Let us pray for rain, if you will

Don't let an idiot steal your joy

Because they will

If you let them

What does it matter to kill a rose

If it wasn't meant to be killed?

With all power and love

You can destroy the wicked

Let one cry in their own agony

Don't be a misanthrope!

Don't be stupid like these other people

Blaming the world for their problems...

For I've been there too

I am not going to cry because of you

For you are strange,

Why can't you be like everybody else?

So I say to myself.

Hanging the curtains on the wall

With no view

I am not a delusion in this case

Because love doesn't exist

In a world that is blue...

Please don't hate me

For I am the misanthrope!

I hate humanity

Because you hate humanity

Is the sight of you ungodly?

I receive your hate

But I am not the bait,

The spirit of envy is real...

If nothing else, I am the misanthrope!

Because your walls have no curtains.
