Coming Home

GenXer Shamrocker ☘️

With much thought and all higher ups involved with this decision. They okayed Henry one last final visit. To his home where he had built many memories with his loving wife and son. Everyone involved feels in their heart of hearts; this decision was the best one! Snow fell as Tucker and Henry walked in! A great number of perfect, bitter sweet memories were made in this Vermont log cabin. Taliah has no idea of how this made Henry come to life. Henry knows in his heart though, he is running out of time. Henry spoke with Taliah about the important role God has played in his life. How God turned even his darkest moments around for good. All it took from Henry was laying it all on God and letting go; allowing God to do what only He could. Henry knows Taliah is dealing with tremendous grief. He could see it in her eyes along with her love for God and reminds her to feel it; but to slow down at times and just be. Once he’s through talking  with Taliah Henry talks to Tucker; Tucker is not ready to say goodbye; his dad has been his rock and his biggest supporter. Henry reminds Tucker that he’s got the love of Our Heavenly Father in his heart. He asks that he stay friends with Taliah and to stay close to Vermont. Tucker remains at Henry’s bedside as he takes his last breath. Tucker lets his tears fall; understanding now this is how dad wanted it. Henry for this short time helped Taliah in such a way; he reminded her of the importance of never giving up; and holding onto her faith. So my story ends on a bitter sweet note; and in reality at times this is how caregiving goes. Two people coming together for a brief moment in time. Some long some short; each one with it’s own set of lessons and learning of someone else’s life. It is not possible to be a caregiver without heart. There are definitely boundaries that should never be crossed; it takes an entire team to do their part. There is so much that caregiving entails; one thing I’ve learned through it all? God’s love always prevails!

My friend, this hit with real tenderness…you carried Henry’s final moments with such care. The faith, the grief, the letting go…it all feels honest and deeply human. Beautifully shared. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️
