Sheherazade

Eugene S.

(runaway)

perspectives are the most tenuous of things
resounding they are in the mind of a child
enticed by futures and what they may bring
lost in presents, beat down, defiled
unblemished hope, infinity is seen
down tracks of turtles who live in the wild
exit, traumatic, a child is free - at the age of 15

(collision)

bandaged and broken, a life laid bare
a turtle to follow, a lonely prayer
lamented pasts and anger propel
lost and rejected, protect yourself
another takes hold of the wheel as you stare
dumbfounded and shocked, the sudden glare
extricate, endure, revive - life is not fair

(religion)

another hope, miraculous road
done is the turtle, his burden now gone
a different path, devoted to works
glory and praise, but priests can be worse
inert is faith, that leaves you more lost
ordained to be nothing, and hopelessly tossed

(plague)

fortunes of ague did find at home
ignored by all, the guide was now gone
no more the turtle to lead you to life
alone, can't breathe, subjected to die
lungs and x's and tubes do prevail
exhaling a lifetime that's cracked and frail
