Couldn’t find the track
Lost wandering in the night
Couldn’t see the signs
Nearly lost the fight
Kick you when you’re down
Throw you in the dirt
Mock you when you’re up
Stone you till it hurts
Running through the jungle
Living in the hell
When it’s time to kill
Disregard the smell
Now the path is clear
Sunlight clouds your eyes
Purpose follows reason
Death becomes disguise
Fear the only courage
Pain the mental spur
Drives you to insanity
Sight begins to blur
Close the door forever
Pushed into the hole
A ghost for all eternity
Lost without a soul.

The poetic build up makes the last stanza a great one. it carries a feeling of hopelessness and devastation. Heavy and dark this poem is great for anyone who has taken this vacation. Nicely done Paul a fave
Glad it\\\'s coming to Christmas to get the cheery poems written.
Paul, this whole piece moves like a hard march through trauma...jungle, mockery, fear, pain, then that stark final drop into ghosthood. You told the story with grit and unflinching rhythm. Well done. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Sure is a journey of doom.
Totally.
This poem is stark and somehow beautiful at the same time. Wonderful
It is raw as it needs to be.
