Why?
Why can’t I make you proud?
Why can’t I be the perfect girl?
Who has it all together?
I want to change the world,
I want to do something,
That will show you I could be something.
I love music, but I don’t think,
That I will ever be good enough.
I would love to do it for my life,
But that is out of my league,
And I do not know if that is for me.
I open my up my bible
The Psalms say, “Rejoice”
How could I do that, when,
My mom does not think,
My life plan is for me.
She says I am not cut out for it.
She asked if I wanted her opinion,
I said, “yes” but wish I didn't.
You say my tears are saved,
I hope you see these tears.
They are hurt, angry, confused, sad,
They are painful, my eyes burn.
God you are out there,
But I need to see you move in my life.
Make yourself evident to me,
I don’t doubt you, I doubt me.
You created a mean person like my dad,
So can’t you fix the life of a girl like me,
If not, why? Show me WHY?

A poem about trying to meet the expectations of others over one's own makes one insecure and questioning themselves. A lovely write
