Lying Alone

Katie B.

It never seems fair

Lying alone

Blanketed by darkness

Hoping the sky doesn't fall

Getting up only to get back down

It never seems fair

Lying alone

Blanketed by darkness

Hoping the sky doesn't fall

This one is dark but then so is depression. When caused by an event it is difficult but when biological one feels cursed. I loved the repeat in that it reinforces the feel that depression constantly returns and if feels that it always will. Powerful

Depression sure is debilitating, and winter time doesn't help any.
I can see why animals hibernate and humans pull the blanket over themselves.
There is lots of help, it's just finding what suits you at that time.

Simple words carrying the angst of loneliness. I am rather simple minded and I connect with poems that convey deep emotions in a simple way. I firmly believe it's easy enough to make things difficult but very difficult to make things easy enough. I read it in your poem 🙏
