It's such a bumpy ride,
The way I feel inside.
Not knowing what to think,
I'm standing on the brink.
I'd like to understand.
I need to take your hand.
I really must confess
I might just make a mess.
Then who will clean it up,
When I say who knows what?
I wish I could stay calm,
No reason for alarm.
I've never felt this way.
I don't know what to say.
It's really no big deal.
I'll just say how I feel.
I think you feel the same.
So, I won't be ashamed.
When I say, "I love you"
To hope you love me, too.
I'll keep my fingers crossed
That I will win my cause.

- Comment from author about the poem: Some of these couplets are almost interchangeable, if not hackneyed. I'm trying to keep it light for awhile. P.s. - I guess my description of this poem was a little harsh. I do take my writing seriously. But when I compare it to something I wrote recently (and have since deleted), it isn't as intense. THAT poem very personal AND extreme. So, I really don't want to plumb those waters for awhile.

The minefield of love.
One must wear gloves.
Hope the other is in agree.
And if not.
Let it be.
A poem about getting one's feet on solid ground before taking any risks. A lovely poem of trepidation and patience. The time will come to open up and take risks. A wonderful write
