emotional hangover

gray0328

emotional hangover

yesterday's anger clings to my chest

like smoke seeping into old fabric

fear pools in quiet corners of me

jealousy tastes bitter on my tongue

today bears the shadow of excess

the weight of what cannot be undone

we drink from the cup of regret

hoping tomorrow will swallow the burn

but peace does not come uninvited

it waits for us to clear the table

wash the stains of what we carried

make room for light to settle softly

the only cure for what lingers

is to lie gently with the present

to forgive the havoc of yesterdays

and love the quiet of this morning

There is patience in this poem a plea for one to wait and see. It softens the blow of past wrongs and injustice with the seasoning of time. Lovely
