The Lies We Tell to Survive

Simran_

How easy it is to run from reality.
How our everyday adjustment to reality is
slipping into delusion,
has just become a coping mechanism to live life.

Because reality is hard, right?
Not getting what you wanted
but you could just say,
“Something better is coming up.”

Not liking what you’re doing,
but ending up where you are
is not the end, right?

You hate the path— but maybe it still leads home.
Painting on the cracks for hope
doesn’t fix the pot;
it makes it entirely different from the previous one.
But the reality is—
it changes its qualities,
maybe for the better, right?

So it’s not reality we are afraid of.
It’s the unveiled truth—
that it might be different from our delusion
that scares us.

Deep thought in this poem. It requires courage to see its deeper aspects and acceptance of self and the world. It addresses self weaknesses, abilities as well as decisions. It places blame on self and the environment. A piece for reflection. Well done and a fave
