a single drop

arqios

Candid words begin the work:
a lifted glass, colours shifting,
a small sound caught by careful ears.

Warmth stirs beneath the skin,
like a kettle warming on a low burner.
A slow rise from hidden channels,
like a quiet tide lifting a tide‑pool.
A thaw loosening the brow,
like a frozen pane cracking as breath slips out.
Ripples gather their own force,
like a child’s splash turning sudden whirl.
A brief fluency pushing forward
before sinking again.

Hands idle at the edge of thought.
Unwritten lines drift downward,
like ink drops spreading on a still pond.
Fine grains collecting
like soft snowfall settling on a calm lake.

Then—
a single drop jumps.

Cryptic this is a beautiful write that to me signifies the emergence of a creative thought condensing on the edge of the mind and running down the rim of the brain's glass forming a drop that splashes onto the page as words forming a poem. A fave my friend

I love that read, dear Soren. The splashing onto the page makes for a perfect poetic imageπŸ•ŠοΈπŸ™πŸ»

My pleasure Cryptic such poetry is rare and deserves to be read and contemplated

That summative punch line was not what I was expecting .. I knew all along it would be good, or something special .. but it proved to be even better than that ..

Thanks, Neville! That affirms the writing direction that could contour this year’s poetry. Cheers, mateπŸ•ŠοΈπŸ™πŸ»

Nicely done. Your poem revolves around the idea of communication, emotional awakening, and the subtle yet powerful shifts that occur when one allows their feelings to surface and be expressed.

Thanks, Friendship. Expression is not always easy and could be very beautiful when it does work out. Cheers πŸ•ŠοΈπŸ™

This poem understands momentum without spectacle. Everything gathers quietly until that final motion, which feels earned rather than announced. The stillness teaches the leap how to matter. Beautifully handled. πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›

Taking the leap, that was what all of last year was about, it would seem. Now to seek the groove and rhythm of this year. Thanks, TittuπŸ™πŸ•ŠοΈ

                Yes...indeed. To 2026...whatever may come.

That's a lot of activity to get a single drop! lol.
