Why is it that,
in some lands,
the owl is
a harbinger of fortune,
and in other lands,
a bringer of misfortune?
The poor owl
drifting amid uncertain mist
hears nothing but echoes
cast upon the silent night.
چرا در بعضی سرزمین ها
جغد
خوش یمن است
و در سرزمین های دیگر
بد یمن؟
جغد بیچاره
لغزان در فضای وهم آلود
پژواکی می شنود
که بر شب خموش افکنده شده بود

The contradiction from one culture to another is expressed in this poem. In the United States the owl is seen as a symbol of wisdom. In this sense wisdom of knowledge may represent the forbidden fruit from the tree that when eaten lead to mortality and thereby death. So the owl of wisdom becomes the harbinger of death but at the same time good fortune for opening our eyes. A lovely poem
I really appreciate the way you connected the owl’s symbolism across cultures and the deep meaning you drew from it.
You are most welcome Soheil differences often come together into a unity that sheds light on all.
